I need advice on natural hair?

I went natural because I'm in college and I don't know how to flat iron my own hair that well and salons are expensive for me (if they don't turn me away anyway).

My friend said I'm supposed to twist my hair instead of putting a scarf on because my hair will break off? Is that true?

I'm worried because the sides of my hair don't grow as well as the top in the first place…

You should co - wash.(wash hair but put conditioner in place of shampoo)

No products with sulfates in it as it strips your hair of natural oils.

wash hair often 3-4 days or once a week

Scarfs take moisture from your hair, cover your hair with a satin or silk wrap to keep moisture inside

i'm currently wetting (not washing) my hair everysingle day to keep it moisturized and i have REALLY seen growth

do hair inversions it REALLY helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so9ExluN8TM

    never comb hair when dry'

    get denman's brush

it's really helpful to watch kimmaytube and naptural85's hair care videos on youtube it helped me alot

stay away from heat (blow dryers, flat irons)

after washing, make about 15-20 twist in your hair and leave it over night (with a silk wrap on) take it down in the morning it should look great

    Care and Maintenance

Nix shampoos with sulfates. Sulfates strip the hair of needed moisture and natural oil, drying it out.

Pre-poo (pre-shampoo) your hair with coconut oil or olive oil. Coconut oil helps hair retain its protein levels, thus preventing damage. It also limits the amount of water the strands absorb, preventing wear and tear (from expansion and contraction) over time. Both natural oils protect the hair from being stripped when you shampoo.

Deep condition your hair with a moisturizing deep conditioner after every wash. Consider using a gentle heat source like a microwave cap or by wrapping a towel around your head (or rocking a wool cap) to generate some body heat of your own.
