A saner approach to Default?

All I hear is Default from politicians and newscasters. Whether it is willful ignorance or purposeful lying does not matter. People hear the default word, repeat it, answer polls about it that show what? Worry about default - exactly the desired results.

Meanwhile in truth the debt ceiling and a default not only are NOT the same thing but is only possible is purposefully chosen.

So how about this for an approach. pass a bill that raises the debt ceiling on the first of each month by the 20 or 25 billion required to service the debt. That would clearly separate the two issues so that all the rest of the spending would have to be dealt with separate from the debt ceiling issue.

What do you think? Any big government politicians support this? Would the pitifully ignorant People understand the issues any better?

"What do you think?" lol, I think history has proved that the great majority of things that need to be done are possible to have done both more efficiently, easier and less expensively until you get the government involved. There is a fundamental breakdown in the mind of elected officials that seems to amount to the 'paper pusher mentality' whereby they spend so much energy, effort and time appearing busy to justify their jobs that they forget how to actually do any work. And since the majority of them are attorneys it's easy to see that mindset come into play as well, which is the dedicated effort to say everything in as many words possible rather than clear and concise communication to justify padding the bill.

Take all that, add to it the trappings of power and you have the perfect storm for unlimited idiocy.

This Administration has done what no other has done in the history of the Nation -- we haven't had a formal budget in over 5 years! It is the most inefficient and unprofessional presidency in American history and an utter embarrassment. He's the ultimate hypocrite to expect American people to tighten their own belts while he spends without limits and takes hostage the government and citizens to demand unlimited spending continue without his own need to pass a single budget. In any corporation in the business world he would be fired for such incompetence and poor leadership. With that at the helm, more of the same is all that can be expected and fixes, whether easy or not, are not going to be possible.

That would be pretty pointless. Hitting the debt ceiling doesn't mean the federal government can't spend money, it just means it can only spend the money that it has.

The federal government brings in more than enough money every month to cover it's payments on debt. There is absolutely no reason to increase the debt ceiling for the sole purpose of paying debt, that's going to happen regardless.
