Maltese is notorious for the right pacing, timing, and sequence of the gags and events in the script. Chuck Jones puts the wry twists in the characters' personalities and behavior, and sets up some delightful character traits. It helps to know some of the social traits of the era in which the cartoons were written and produced, in some cases.
