    i agree fully with your first answer. the movie gave us a visual presentation of it.

    its a glitch, a misfire of the synapses which sends your current experience straight into your long term memory, bypassing your short term memory. this means that while it is still an only an experience, it is stored as a memory.

    almost like a short circuit in an electrical current, or maybe even exactly like that. seeing as we are made of energy.
