Some dogs can sire well into their teens, other dogs are infertile before age 10. No way to guess which Bob is.

However, even if he is still producing sperm, the quality level will have dropped significantly. That could mean fewer puppies--and more puppies with birth defects. Much like with humans who father after their prime: they are FIVE times more likely to have children with birth defects ( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1223230/... )

Siring a litter of pups is no guarantee that any of the pups would be a lot like their dad. I'm sure you have friends who are nothing like their parents, while other friends are a lot like their parents. A roll of the dice. Not only might you be horribly disappointed with the puppy you got, but regardless of that, what about its littermates? No responsible breeder is going to want to breed to your dog, so you're left with Backyard Breeders who sell to anyone as long as they get their $$$. That means that some of Bob's children will end up in lousy homes, perhaps abused, and several of them will end up at your local Humane Society waiting for euthanization. Is that the fate you want for Bob's puppies?

You'd have a much better selection if you visit several breeders, and then you can choose exactly the puppy you'd like to have.

The answer is yes Bob however perhaps his offspring might not be as nuts as your old dog is. If the pups are going to good owners then go for it, however think as your old dog might not like a newcomer, also more puke poo wee vets food why not look for the breed of your pet and buy a pup with the same genetic link. his parents might have passed away but their blood line is still there so read your dog's pedigree forms.

Bob is a pet & his "vibrant nuts" should've been castrated years ago.

No reputable breeder would risk such a tie with her prized b*tch......

If he were to procreate at this ripe old age his pups would be deformed & would therefore look or act nothing like Papa Bob.

Neuter Bob & love him as a cancer free pet.

  • He could. I knew a 17 year old dog that fathered a litter.

He sure could! dogs (as long as everything is working properly) can sire puppy's until the day they die. Ever hear the phrase dirty old dog?

Yes of course there are even older dogs that have litters.

Nothing wrong with being a dad at that age. Go ahead and get his cherry popped.

    No he is too old
