Nike CTR 360 Cleats, A Very Bad Choice...?

This is our experience with them. Am I being fair with my obervations after our very bad experiences?

A couple weeks after purchasing my daughter her Nike CTR360 cleats (our English friends refer to them as “boots”) she suffered an injury to her right ankle. Since then she has suffered numerous injuries to include a severe ankle sprain.

This past weekend my daughter showed me an approximately one inch diameter blister on her right foot, on the ball just below her big toe. Examining the inside of the cleat I noticed a large buildup on the medial half of the shoe and the lateral half was depressed. This forced more pressure on the outside of the foot and substantially increased to possibility for ankle rolls to the outside.

Further close examination it was apparent there was something else as well, a depression on the medial side, between the second and third outter prominace (plastic extension, aka: cleat). The size of this was about one inch as well.

I am not an engineer but only a concerned father. So, I decided to take a closer look at this cleat. Simply looking at the construction at the bottom of the cleats it is quite noticeable there is far more plastic at the base of the individual plastic type extensions where they attach to the shoe. Although, there are regions of lesser strength at various parts the portions where there are not plastic extensions. Thusly, medially between the second and third plastic extension cleat there is no extra strengthening. This is a critical place not to have it because of all start ups and stops required while playing soccer. This highly stressed region the shoe either came with or developed a depression.

To make sure my observations were correct another player borrowed these cleats for one game. She noticed a very awkward feel to the cleats and said she would never wear them again.

Thanks in advance.

Update:

The cleats were so expensive I just figured they were good quality. Yes, sadly, I admit I was very slow at narrowing it down, then finding this. It was simply beyond my comprehension how a company could ask so much money for such a completely, defective boot. Also, she never complained about the boot being uncomfortable, and I did ask many times. This is my second major problem with Nike Cleats in less than 4 years. That is not to mention the problems I had with their running shoes when I was in college. I think I have learned my lesson... Finally! Again, I admit I was very slow...lol

In general terms Nike Ctr360 Maestri and Nike CTR360 Trequartista III are very good boots.

In terms of quality and fit they are on my experience with them the other models of the Ctr360 they are cheaper versions not that high quality but I don't believe they would be a bad boot.

The boot you got may be a defective pair but I don't believe all the problems your daughter suffered are due to the boots as for example blisters may occur anytime and sometimes due to not completely broken in the boot.

You could get her a new pair of boots other then Ctr360 but I highly suggest to buy them from a store and make her try them on and being sure the fit of the boot so it be true to size not too big or too small but perfect fit. Also you could choose a leather upper which can mold to the feet such as Nike Tiempo Mystic.

Also your daughter may need to completely heal her blisters, ankle sprain, etc. before continue practicing soccer.

I don't know much about those Nike cleats, but there is such thing as uncomfy shoes and uncomfy means not to keep on wearing them till we get 'severe ankle sprain'.

I do admire how meticulous u r in examining those cleats to make sure they r safe for your daughter to wear;however,u waited far too long to do that, long enough for her to get injured.

The shoes industry is highly competitive and each company wants to come up with a new model ,every now and then,to appeal to it's customers, who, in turn would buy a product for it's brand name rather than for what it has to offer.

Don't do it. It will gradually melt the glue that connects the soleplate to the upper... >.<
