Ford f 150 pick up 302 V8 engine?

How many MPG will a ford f 150 pick up get with a 302 V8 engine in it? I was thinking about buying a 1980 ford f 150 just was wondering. Thanks!

With a two barrel carb and no overdrive, you're going be looking at around 12-13 MPG city and about 15-16 MPG highway. If it's a 4WD model then you can knock it down by 1 or 2 MPG.

Depends on driving habits and how mechanically sound the engine is, what type of transmission it has, how well it is maintained, is it a 2 wheel drive or 4x4, etc. All of that will contribute to your fuel economy. In that time period if it is mated to a manual, it will lack an over drive. You could change it to a 1988 M5R2 that was in any Ford small block engines (300, 302) and mate it up. If its an auto, more than likely 3 speed maybe with an over drive.

2 wheel drive will 9 times out of 10 get better mileage over a 4x4. With a 4x4 you add extra weight, it sits up higher, and you have more moving parts even if its not engaged. What type of cab and bed set up? Extended cab long bed or short bed? Standard cab long bed or short bed? Mud tires or regular street tires?

You could get anywhere from 8mpg up to maybe 21mpg.

    15 MPG combined.

Lots of owners have tested this.

I'd say 15-20, depending whether you plan on lots of city or highway driving
