Several factors here. When you buy them, take advantage of the sizing charts provided to be sure that you're getting the right fit. Also be VERY cautious when it comes to your nails, both finger and toenails. The nails are usually the biggest culprit of a snag or a run, so make sure that you don't have any hang nails or overly-sharp edges. Finally, roll up the hosiery from hip to toe and slowly pull them on, one leg at a time. If you moisturize your legs first, this process will go even easier.

make sure your nails are trimmed no sharp edges. you can wear some gloves made for putting on hosiery. bigger size would turn into elephant ears and sag. I wear hose my self and a pair will last me 3 weeks when wearing them 2-3x a week

people store them in the freezer and think that helps. you can also get snag free pantyhose but they are not soft.
