I'm not gaining any width on my biceps?
I've been in a strict workout routine for about a year now and I've noticed quite significant gains in the size of my biceps... although only when looking from the side. When you look at them from the front they appear unchanged and I still look like the skinny guy I did a year ago. Am I doing something wrong or do I just have to wait longer to see the effects? My arm day is as follows:
3 sets x 10 reps bicep curls, hammer curls, preacher curls

You don't mention your age. Up until last january I was the same: hard working, doing everything right working out. But I didn't make gains for 3 reasons:
1. I wasn't going to the gym. I had weights at home, but I wasn't practicing muscle confusion (working your muscles slightly different each time to confuse them into growing).
2. I was still young. When I was 15 and a half all of the sudden my testosterone levels skyrocketed. This helped me in the gym like crazy. You can work out all you want when your young, its not bad, but wait till 15 and a half: your gains will blow you away.
Of course, that is only if your young. If your older, I'd assume your issue is number 3:
3. Not eating enough. If you want to get big, train like a beast and feast. If you train like a wimp, skimp. You have to choose what you want your body to look like. If you lift heavy, your muscles will swell and you will get big like arnold S. Probably not as big unless you have great genes. If you want to be lean and defined, then don't expect to be extremely strong or have huge muscles.
So my advice to you is, if your young, age faster ( :P) eat more, and switch up your exercises every week to confuse your muscles. You can even switch the order of the same exercises.
