Has anyone taken part on the various on-line surveys,for which you are supposed to get paid?

I used to be on one, it has long since closed down.
I did a few surveys and earned $5 US on it, paid by Paypal.
I would have said the site was a scam if I had seen it on my own, but it was recommended by a friend and I can attest that it was real and paid real money.
I can't vouch for the ones they have today though, but I was looking at the TOS for one which said you get paid in units of $300 only. You'd have to slave over surveys for a year to earn that much, I am sure, if they were even honest and didn't make up a reason not to pay.
