When I was first diagnosed with COPD, I did not need medications or expensive testing. It was time to QUIT smoking. PERIOD. Unfortunately, I was unable to quit and a few years later, I needed lots of VERY expensive medications. I was so breathless that quitting cigarettes was finally easy. Your dr. sounded heartless, but in the early stage.. the only thing to do is QUIT smoking. and if you don't you will be like me... This disease can develop quickly or slowly and most of it is up to you at this point. If you want to live a healthy life, for as long as possible... eat right, exercise and quit smoking. I wish I had. Best wishes.

I have no clue why he said take advil twice a day ? Am sure your hands a numb cause you are upset. COPD can be called asthma or emphysema, or other things. If you are having trouble breathing then you should tell the Doctor. Anxiety does wonders upon ppl who are upset

There are 4 stages of COPD. Mild, Moderate, Severe, and Very Severe. You are probably on the early stage of COPD. That means no symptoms of shortness of breath and air hunger.

COPD is a combination disease of asthma, bronchitis and bronchiectasis, and emphysema.

You can have asthma, and not have the others. But in your case you have the whole thing.

See a pulmonary specialist for medicines.
