How do I remove cgi-bin/redirect.ha?

When my internet is down and I try to go to a website (example: tumblr), it redirects me to tumblr.com/cgi-bin/redirect.ha and it takes me to the ATT IP troubleshoot page where it will tell me if there is a maintenance and give me a phone number I can call, ect.

However after my internet has been turned back on, when I try to search tumblr.com, it immediately redirects to tumblr.com/cgi-bin/redirect.ha. This only happens with sites that I've tried to search while my internet had been down, and it redirected me to the ATT IP page.

When my internet is up and it redirects me to the cgi-bin/redirect.ha thing, it's just an error.

Is this a virus or a glitch? I'm using google chrome. I've tried wiping my history and cookies already. Thanks in advance!

Update:

When i start to type in the site, tumblr.com, the drop-down box of results for tumblr in the address bar show up. The detault search for tumblr.com says

Tumblr.com - AT

Update 2:

I've ran Advanced Systemcare deep-root scan and it did not fix the issue.

Don't waste your time with antivirus crap. It's obviously not that. It's AT&T and their stupid modem which has a VERY annoying bug. This is what I did: I have Chrome; my homepage is www.yahoo.com (EXACTLY that). I was getting that same redirect crap. All I did was add "http://"(without/ the quotation marks, of course) to the beginning of www.yahoo.com and now the webpage loads fine. I even resaved the address as my homepage just to be sure and it all works again.

I've tried clearing the cache, clearing the history, and most of the other suggestions here but can't remove the AT&T Re-Direct from a computer that was in use with AOL on Internet Explorer 11 when a U-verse service interruption hit this morning. I called AT&T Tech Support and they want to charge me to fix "their problem" on my computer AND charge me $7+ a month to replace their offending Motorola NVG510 modem. The only company that I'm more aggravated with than AT&T right now is Comcast - but that story would take too long to tell.... New ideas for a fix anyone?

I just went through this very upsetting.

First if you have Aol as your home page, go to internet options under tools and select use default.

    Now exit Internet explorer.

On you short cut menu right click.

select internet options from this list.

Click delete in middle of pop up

I "check" all boxes accept password

    Click delete again

Then click ok on the options page.

    Now open Internet explore.

    Go to Aol.com

See if it stays on there are goes to their redirect page. Note I had to mess with this for awhile to get it to go away. if it worked you can go into Internet options from the tools drop down and set AOL back as your home page

    Good luck

I have the same /cgi-bin/redirect.ha being added to my work web site address after a power failure (I was reading work Email on IE 11.0 on my desktop computer when the power to my house went out for about 30 seconds).

When power came backup I could access work without getting the /cgi-bin/redirect.ha using Firefox on my desktop PC but when using IE I got the /cgi-bin/redirect.ha appended to my work URL. My wife had the same /cgi-bin/redirect.ha error when trying to use Chrome (her computer was off when the power went out).

This morning ATT replaced my Motorola U-verse modem with Arris modem. My wife can now use chrome, I get get to my work website using IE from her computer & from my laptop but still get the /cgi-bin/redirect.ha appended to my work URL when I use my desktop computer. I'm using IE 11.0, I cleared ALL browsing history (temp Internet files, cookies, history, ...) cleared Java Trace & log files, unchecked "keep temp files on my computer"

I even tried typing in the protocol with the url (HTTP://www.work.....) but I still get /cgi-bin/redirect.ha appended to my work URL only on my desk top PC using IE 11.0. I do not have this problem using Firefox on my desktop, or using IE on my wife’s computer or on my laptop computer!

I only had the problem with my iPhone after I switched to AT&T. Apparently it put a cookie in my iPhone to where I had to type "index.html" to get into my web site. I cleared the cookies and, problem solved. Then I switched back to Suddenlink as my ISP.

  • This is crap... At&t is a criminal organization. I don t want to clear my cache because it s there to help me. This has been going on for years and at&t is essentially putting ransomware on computers then charging to remove it. Pretty sure it is time for prison for those fkrs
