My SD card works in camera but not in computer?

Question

I just used my SD card in my laptops SD Card slot reader two days ago to import my pictures from the card to the computer and now all of a sudden when I put the card in the reader for my computer nothing pops up. The card is working fine in my camera but I get nothing when I insert it into the computer. I've uninstalled and re-installed drivers along with rebooting and still nothing pops up when I put the San Disk 8GB card in my dell laptop. Please help. I appreciate it.

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS SAME SD CARD FOR THE LAST YEAR WITH MY COMPUTER. IT"S BEEN READING IT FINE TELL NOW.

Most new cameras support SDHC, but many card readers built into computers do not support SDHC. 

Basically, the card reader in your machine does not see anything larger than 1 or 2Gb, which unfortunately is not uncommon. 

The only real workaround is to hook your camera directly to the computer with a USB cable, or to get an SDHC-capable external card reader, and plug it into your USB port.

which version of windows are you running?

is it in the 'computer' folder that is in the start menu?

if not

put in the card and then in the start menu type 

computer management

open it, go to Storage, Disk management. find the 8GB card in the list, right click on it, change drive letter. it will now pop up in the computer folder or autorun window.

See if the sd card is password protected. If it is password protected remove the password and then insert it into pc. Pc do not recognize the password protected memory cards. If this doesn't solve your problem see whether other pc detects it or not if not backup your data and format the card.
