Asus laptop, internal keyboard has a mind of it's own.?

A few days ago, my laptop's keyboard has been acting strange. Not one of the keys are acting as they should be. Currently I am using the on screen keyboard.

If I was to type 'good afternoon.' it would look like this...

Yes, I actually used the internal keyboard to write that gibberish. Also, when not even touching the keyboard it will randomly write lines of 4 or b. Also it will bring up the right click menu, and scroll down pages as if you hit the page down or spacebar buttons. I need this computer for school which needs a keyboard. Everything else on the computer works perfectly.

I have tried reinstalling and updating the driver, about 100 reboots, scanned for viruses and tried disabling it so I could use an external keyboard.

Has anyone ever had this problem and know how to fix it. it is no longer under warranty.

I have not heard of a virus that does this but I would not discount that possiblity.

Most keyboard problems come from dust built up under the keys. This would be pretty easy to see.

The keyboard is very easy to replace assuming no virus is in there. Download the repair guide for your exact model. This will show you what screws to remove. You can probably get the keyboard for less than $20 by searching eBay for your model and the word keyboard.
