Where do people get the idea that "Satan" is the source of all the "bad" in the world?

For some reason I can't understand, I'm watching Ancient Aliens and the new episode is about "Satan being an Alien" and they keep talking about how Satan and his minions murdered their way across the bible… How he is the cause of all the evil… How he is trying to get people to go to hell because HE RULES in hell…

NONE of this is based in what the bible ACTUALLY bloody says… But these are also common threads of belief in the Average Christian as well as the Ancient Alien nuts.

Lets look at the facts:

1. It appears that Satan only killed 10 people in the bible: the seven sons and three daughters of Job. (And he only does this because god allowed it as part of a bet!) While "God" is estimated to have killed between 33,041,220 and 2.8 million people in the Bible. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread602571/p... 2. The Bible is quite clear that everything, all the good and all the bad, all the sins and all the virtue, all the righteous and all the evil, come from and are directly controlled by God, not Satan. The Bible even says that people can be "Possessed by the evil spirit of the Lord". Not "Possessed by demons" or "Satan" or "The Devil" but by the "Evil Spirit Of God".

3. Satan doesn't "Rule Hell".The bible says that it was created first to punish Satan and the other Angels and then as a place to torture "beasts and false prophets."

✞✞✞ "And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever." (Revelation 20:10).

That's right, chains and prisons... for Satan. No iron fortresses, no fiery thrones, no mention of Satan ruling the cell block... all of that is from the Bible's extended universe and fan fiction...

Soooooo…

Where does it say that Satan "Sends his demons" out to posses people?

Where does it say that Satan "Murders" lost of people?

Where does it say that God isn't able to stop all the evil things "Demons" make people do?

Why does it say, in the Torah and Bible, that "God" creates all the evil in the world?

Why does it always come back to Non-Believers knowing FAR MORE about your holy texts than most believers do?

Disclaimer: Yes. Satan is imaginary. I'm asking believers in the God/Satan myth why so many people believe what is more along the lines of Fan-Fiction than what is ACTUALLY contained in their holy texts.
