My optometrist is refusing to give me my prescription because the exam was more than a year ago.

"America's Best" in Chicago, IL near the H.I.P. mall.

They're not just refusing to release my info but were horribly rude and when I asked to speak to a manager they put me on hold and never came back. I was working at the time and so I just put on my headset and worked until I realized I'd been on hold for half an hour!

But I digress...

My prescription hasn't changed in 5 years, confirmed by 3 exams in that 5 year span, so I'd like to skip the doc and just buy a new pair.

Would it be possible for a location where I would like to buy another pair from to tell me my prescription by testing my glasses?

My friend acquired an 8 month old kitten that he had vaccinated with the 1st series of Distemper and Feline Leukemia and also had neutered in Chicago but couldn't keep him, so now I have him and I have 2 weeks to find a place to have little Lou receive his booster shots.

I'm new to having a kitten this young and I'm seeing that some places say I should have him vaccinated for FIV/FeLV and be Chipped and all these expensive sounding procedures and I'm not sure what is mandatory and what is just an up-sell.

Will taking him to a PetSmart or PetCo for the Distemper and Leukemia Booster be acceptable or will they try to push additional services?

Is the Distemper and Leukemia Booster all he needs?

Otherwise, he's perfectly healthy and happy and his neuter surgery is healing just fine.

Any advice for this first time kitten owner would be appreciated.

Synthetic rubies are literally identical to natural. Chemically, in terms of color, structurally.... So identical that regulations followed by ethical manufactures are required to have a flurosent comepond added to it so that they can be told apart from the real.

So I looked up verses in the Quran/Hadiths regarding domestic violence and then went to look up Domestic Violence in the Bible and discovered that I'm unable to locate New Testament verses regarding Wife Beating.

Everything I find is from the Old Testament... LOTS AND LOTS OF PASSAGES from the Old Testament.

So I guess my question is 2 fold:

1. Are there passages in the Christian version of the Judea-Christian holy texts NOT of the Old Testament that espouse the idea that men are justified in beating their women, be it daughters, wives, or slaves? Random acts of murder don't count, I'm talking about overt stance that women are property, like in Ephesians:

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything." (Ephesians 5:22-24)

2. With the Jewish holy texts so chalk full of orders for "Good Men" to beat their wives and daughters, how is it that domestic violence rates seem so low in the Jewish Community? (Or at least in the American Jewish Community since that's the group I'm most familiar with... Or, as Adam Carolla said, "The North American Domesticated Jew") Is it because almost 75% of all theistically based hate-crimes happen to Jews in the US, so they leave each other alone?

BONUS: How can people justify their own cultures pandemic of abuse by pointing fingers at others and saying: "THEY DO IT TOO! SO STOP JUDGING US!"? Does that amount of cognitive dissonance hurt?

When you look at the American Health Care System as it stands, it's an epic clusterfúck.

I looked at the Oregon Trail Aid Website and it says what a "Qualified Purchase" is vs an "Unqualified Purchase", such as you can buy Fresh Produce and Chicken but not Cat Food or Body Lotion, but they don't say how you would actually pay for it all at the checkout counter.

Chilies, both hot and sweet, are new world plants...

Asia, India/Southeast Asia, the Middle East, etc. have super hot food as staples but I can't believe that these cultures didn't have 'hot'foods before 1492 and Columbus bringing chilies back to the old world...
