How does adoption work in Alabama?

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years now and was just wondering about adoption? How does it work?

I would like to correct the language used below. You are not "buying" an infant. If you choose to adopt a child there are fees to pay attorneys, agencies and court costs. These vary. Whether you adopt or conceive a child is priceless. Adopting from foster care will be less costly then a private agency or attorney.

I would start by interviewing different agencies and attorneys to see what is right for you and your husband!!

An adoption agency or local adoption attorney can explain it to you and get you started. Keep in mind that infants are in short supply and can easily cost $20k, generally even higher. As an alternative, you might consider adopting a slightly older child from foster care. The expense to you would be minimal. You can learn more about adoption from foster care at http://adoptuskids.org/ .

Depends on what you want to buy a white newborn? Or would you be willing to foster to adopt? A newborn is going to set you back anywhere from 20-60 grand. You will also have to have a homestudy one, as well a background check. Medical and psyc exams possibly.
