You'll also want to make sure they have at least one OTHER insurance carrier, and make sure they've been in business at least five years.

A local person is more helpful than one five states away, because they know which plan is MORE accepted in your area, geographically, and they'll know which plan is most competitive, off the top of their head, in your area. Want to know if the hospital down the street is in network? The guy five states away won't know if there are a lot of problems with that hospital and Humana . . .the local guy WILL.
