When I buy a mouse, what do I put it in to take it home?
I was just curious about getting a feeder or fancy mouse and I was wondering, after I buy one or more, do they give me something to put them in while I take it or them home? Like a small cage in the meantime? Thanks.

Most pet stores will give you a cardboard box. If you live more than half an hour away, or you're buying a larger rodent, you might want to buy a carrier for the ride home, so that your new pet won't chew its way out.
When we bought our three fancy mice, we got a cardboard box (we lived about ten or fifteen minutes away) and it was fine. Same thing for my hamster. (Mice at Petsmart, hamster at Petco.)
The boxes resemble nothing so much as a doughnut box, with the stores logo and a few tips/warnings. (And airholes, of course. Nothing is cuter than a mouse nose poking out of the airholes... except for three mice poking their noses out at the same time.)

If you go to places like Petco or Petsmart they put them in cardboard boxes for you to take them home in. When I adopted my rat, I brought a cat carrier to bring him home in, but they wouldn't allow me to. They said for the safety of the animal they have to leave in the cardboard boxes. I've adopted many rodents from pet stores and I've never had any chew out of the boxes, although people worry they do. I hope you are experienced with mice, as taking on feeder mice are very hard. Most are not socialized at all (same as rats) and they can leave a bad taste in your mouth about them if you're a first time owner.
If by chance you do get a mouse that bites and is scared, don't let it denture you. It's possible to tame them, but it will be hard work. Mice really don't care for humans as rats do, rats bond with you just like cats and dogs. ALTHOUGH, I have heard of people having mice that love to be held and bond with them. It all depends on the mouse. There is a good group on Facebook called Rats Are Awesome (it's for rats and mice) and they have so much information in their files on how to care for mice and rats and much more. You don't even have to join the group to see them. Although if you join the group you can ask advice, share pictures, etc. It has over 2,000 members. Good luck!
Here is a link to what the cardboard box looks like. Completely the same, but has the stores logo on it. If you're unsure, just call the store! :)

A cage wouldn't be safe for traval. The pet store should have a small box with holes for ventilation. Get two mice as they like a buddy. Darren, pet mice are fine and they don't have disease only wild ones.

They usually give you a little cardboard box. This is pretty good for lighhhhhhht travel (We're talking minutes here). Later when you are cleaning their cage, you might want a little place to put them in to, so I just suggest going to the reptile section and picking out a mesh-topped plastic carrier cage. Like one of these: http://www.snakemuseum.com/c/155-category/reptile-...
They come in handy. :) Good luck!
