How can anyone claim their god is correct when there are thousands of religions/beliefs in the world?
It makes me wonder how anyone can claim their god is correct when there are thousands of religions all with some different origin story worshipping some different thing;
Compare for example:
Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism, Australian Aboriginal Religion and First Nations Religions AND Aesir and Norse Faiths.
That's just to name a few.
Surely if the Christian/Islamic god were real he'd have sent prophets to areas like where North America is, as well as South America, Australia, Japan, China, where Russia is, South Africa and where Europe is, etc. and NOT just in the Middle East!
Don't you think it rather strange?
I think Religion is geographical, as are languages and to a degree, cultures(?).

You can't because a person does not know until they die, and they can't tell anybody if they die.

There are 330 million gods in Hinduism, there are 2870, closer to N, main gods, worshipped since documented history.
As these gods come and go, so do there religions. The main reason Christianity, Islam, Judaism became popular is that they streamlined the process and the focus, they are a very optimized, if illogical, religions. Their individual books leave no room for individuality or questioning and all say there way is definitively right and correct. They go further to say open persecution and bashing of Anyone not like you is okay and holy.
Logic will never teach an ignoramus that is content to be a lemming or sheep.

I rather like the Hindu explanation. Brahman is "that which is", also called "God without form". And when one worships God in ANY particular form, Brahman takes that form for the devotee.
Even in the Bible, where God tells Moses "I am that I am".
In this theoretical paradigm, ALL forms of God are valid.
Yes, religion is cultural.
One could argue that God gives the message in ways that the culture and the general spiritual understanding of the population will understand them .. geared to whatever level of spiritual sophistication there is.
One could also argue that there are inner teachings for those of greater spiritual sophistication, and popular "outer" teachings for the general public.
The inner teachings being the true teachings, and the outer teachings being "better than nothing" for the masses. Christianity had a history of inner vs outer teachings, and there is only the faintest whisper of inner teachings still left and rarely taught in today's Christian churches.
One could argue anything.
It's just an exercise in cognitive cleverness.
Faith is belief, and belief is not knowledge. Nor does belief change whatever the reality of a situation actually is (people used to believe the Earth was flat, but that didn't change Earth).
However, the "god experience" is hard-wired into our right hemispheres. The feeling of the presence of God comes from meditation, or contemplative prayer, or centering prayer ... or whatever the particular religion calls it.
Whether this is actually a tuning-in to greater realities, or merely the programming of how our brain functions cannot be answered.
But the feeling of unity, universal love, joy, peace .. this is part of the heritage of our right brain, and it does indeed feel like God.

There is more reason to believe in God, The Bible, and Jesus Christ than there is for any other world view on earth.
1/3 of the Bible is prophecy and 2/3 of that has happened. No other book of any religion or any other writing on earth can say that. People who spoke different languages, from different social and economic backgrounds separated by hundreds and thousands of years, who didn’t know what the other people wrote, and the things they wrote agree, and happen. Two great places to look are Isaiah 53, and psalm 22
Jesus fulfilled over 300 Old Testament Prophecies. The statistical odds for just 5 prophecies about the Messiah being fulfilled in one person are approximately one in a hundred million billion.
There is more evidence for the existence of Jesus than there is for all other historical figures combined.
We have eyewitness evidence
Manuscript evidence
Circumstantial evidence
Outside source information, historians like Josephus
Archeological evidence
The evidence of the missing body of Jesus
Miracles
Answered prayer
Changed lives

I do agree with you on certain issues! People just follow religion blindly ~ just because they are born into a certain religion!
What made you think that there were no prophets/messengers sent outside of Middle East??
to realize which religion is the correct one you need to find proper evidences/PROOFS ~~ and evidences/Proofs of the particular religion can only be found through it's source i.e the scripture!! The scripture MUST SHOW SOMETHING to convince people that it can come ONLY from God!! There are MANY of such proofs when it comes to Islam ~ check the link above!
***Some PROOFS of Islam -->>> http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj...
Some converts sharing their stories(video), Bible confirms Jesus was a muslim and prophesied Muhammad(saw) in GREAT details ~ Plus The Quranic Proofs(of course) ~ Shared in the link above!!
email me if you have any questions!!

The names of religions like Christianity or Islam etc. is only a title given by people. The most important thing is to believe in God, worship him and do good deeds. My advice is to sincerely seek the Truth (do research) and the Truth will find you. In order for the Truth to manifest itself, do lots of good deeds.

A good question, but needs a bit more thought. How do we determine that anything is real or actually works or can be depended on to work predictably? In the cases that things seem to be "unpredictable" how can we know why they are "unpredictable" or if it is just our perceptions?
There is a well proven, self correcting methodology to determining effective understandings of reality and it has very little to do with the number of religions. (I suspect that you know this, but just had to point it out)

God wants some people. He is esoteric about it. Those God did not choose wont know which way to go.
John 6
65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”
The other religions are there to occupy the other people, and to set them in directions God wanted them to go. Some of those other religions completed their purposes and died. Others rise up, even some Christian ones, and help to cause those not chosen to expend their energy. I imagine there are other reasons, but those are the ones I can think of.
