If they cannot fix my computer, should they replace it?

I know the title sounds a little ridiculous but...

I have a two year warranty for an Asus laptop. I bought it in April of this year, so it's still practically new. Randomly one day my keyboard on the laptop started acting funky and not even an external keyboard worked properly, however the on screen keyboard does work. I brought it to the store in which I have the warranty and it has been there just over a week.

Yesterday they called and said they could not figure out what was wrong with it. They have tried everything from cleaning the system to replacing the keyboard and still can't fix it. Now they have sent it to a specialist.

It just got me thinking, what if they cannot fix it? The computer is barely seven months old and I also bought a $250 warranty, $1300 in total for something that only lasted seven months? Should they replace it? I need it for school and I cannot afford a new computer.

Update:

The reason why I am asking it because I was looking at the warranty brochure they gave me that shows me what I purchased. The warranty says it covers everything but does not say anything about replacing it, but when you to the camera and printer section of the brochure they do mention replacement of those particular items.

Asus will replace anything that's broken. If it's the hard drive they will replace reformat it and reload Windows and send it back to you...

Went through this twice with my son's Asus laptop.

He now owns a Toshiba Satellite!

IF they can't fix it and say there is nothing wrong with it and have sent it to a specialist, they are admitting there is an issue so I would ask fro a replacement. Laptop, before your warranty expires. The longer they muck around the longer your without a Laptop, Get the Ombudsman involved if need be? Mention that to them, not as an idle threat either.

Yes of course. It's under warranty

EDIT: If they are unable to fix the problem by part replacement, etc, they are required to give you an equal or better replacement

They should replace it. Paying out $1300 for a computer that only lasted you 7 months is outrageous.

the company you bought it from should have sent it back to the manufacturer to be repaired.

if a repair fails they usually replace the laptop with either a new one or a refurbished one (it's nearly always a refurbished one)
