How likely is it Obama will be elected for a third term?

What would it take for Obama to legalize presidents to serve more than two terms?

How likely is it he will be president for a 3rd term if some how it became possible? My thoughts here is if he is able to legalize more than two terms for American presidents I think he'd be powerful enough to become president for another term.

You know, back during the Vietnam War I heard this said about Pres. Nixon, that he was going to singlehandedly change the rules to allow himself to steal a third term.

We've had several presidents who openly ignored the constitutional limits to the power of the presidency. One of them, for instance, never vetoed a bill during his entire first term, but instead would sign bills and then issue a 'signing statement' holding himself exempt from the bill, thus making it impossible for Congress to override his veto. He also issued an executive order allowing The President to take over the function of Congress and the Supreme Court in the case of an 'emergency', just on his own decision. It also allowed him to commandeer all the media--newspapers, TV networks, etc., thus becoming a complete dictator Not a legitimate law, mind you, or a constitutional amendment, just an executive order. That wasn't Obama who did that.

If I was predicting today, if I was putting money on the 2016 election, I'd say the Republicans have already blown 2016. 2016 is going to be a 'rebuilding year' for the Repubs. But it won't be a third term for Obama. Obama doesn't have to become a dictator for the Democrats to hold onto the White House.

He can't. It's written in the constitution.

The constitution would have to be thrown out or be introduced as a new bill.

The bill has to be introduced in either House or Senate

Bill get's sponsored by a representative and the bill gets drafted

Bill is then presented to the Chief Clerk and on to Legal Counsel who drafts the legal language.

The bill is reviewed for any Fiscal or Revenue impact. The House Speaker refers it to a committee and the first reading is done.

The committee then reviews the bill and holds a public hearing. The committee Chair signs off on the bill before it goes to the House Floor.

The bill goes through a second and third reading and then debated before it's voted on, a majority of 2/3 votes is needed before it's sent to the Senate where a majority vote of 50%+1 is needed.

After the bill has passed both houses in the identical form, it is signed by three officers, The Speaker Of The House, Senate President and Chief Clerk

The Governor then has 30 days to sign or veto the bill, if signed within the 30 day period the Bill or Act is filled with The Secretary Of State.

    The Bill Is then passed.

And they say teachers need to be paid more. Any teacher worth his or her salt should've taught this young lady about the U.S. Constitution, and how presidents are limited by the Constitution to two terms.

Teachers are also supposed to teach children critical thinking. How could anyone who knows how to think actually believe that Obama's presidency has not been one of the biggest failures in history?

sonya813007, I hope you're still very young, and have time to figure these things out for yourself.

You've got to be kidding! It takes amending the Constitution. And, as for his popularity, it is going down. It's below 40% now and will continue to fall. Do you realize that all the babies born with heart defects or children who get cancer or bad burns will not have access to the specialized doctors and hospitals they need unless they are from a wealthy family? I needed to go out of state to Mayo Clinic

twice for surgery this year. After December 31st, the poorer quality care begins for anyone with a complicated medical problem. Lots of people will die!

    No third term.

Zero. He doesn't have time to get the Constitution amended. Sorry you didn't know about that requirement. Maybe should read the Constitution to become educated about how the government works.

Not possible. He would have to engineer an amendment to the US Constitution. He has no chance. Obama is a dirt bag and more people are realizing that.

The country has been subjected to enough anguish over the last 5 years. So please let it not happen. Enough already.
