do I have high blood pressure?
I know blood pressure below 120/80 is normal, but today I got of work which I do a lot of walking on the job and I stopped by 2 stores and the second stire was a grocery store which I walked around shopping for around 45 minutes before I seen a bp machine so I decided to check my blood pressure and my reading was 147/74 and that kinda scared me because I already have anxiety due to heart palpitations.
I'm 22 male who doesn't exercise and I sit around alot but I'm not over weight and I don't eat healthy and I don't drink much water. Idont smoke ir drink alcohol. My dad had high bp my mother doesn't.
Over the past few months I've had my bp checked a few times and its usually 140ish over usually below 80 but I've never checked it while resting ice always been walking around.
I've had blood tests ekgs and chest xrays and the hospital has checked my blood pressure countlesss times.
What should I do? Should I be concerned?

get checked by a doctor, the machines in stores can be wildly inaccurate. ask your doctor if its something to be concerned about and what you should do. you may need medication or it could be as simple as changing your diet. I was diagnosed with high BP (way higher then yours) I was on meds for years. took myself off. ignored it and had a stroke soon after my 40th birthday. now instead of one pill a day to control it, i'm on like 5 a day. strokes suck. get it checked take care of it, before you end up in a wheelchair in the hospital for 3 weeks and have to learn to walk again. please get it checked.

Blood pressure measurements don't count for anything if you've been walking around. Ideally, you should be sitting down for at least 5 minutes or so. Blood pressure also can vary during the day, so it's best to get measurements from similar times during the day. No caffeine in the morning either. These measurements should be repeated on a few separate occasions. Some people get "white coat hypertension" when they go to the doctor's office because they are nervous. Probably blood pressure medicines wouldn't kill you. But you don't necessarily need blood pressure medicines if your blood pressure is only high while active. When doctors study the effects of high blood pressure, they study the effects of people who are diagnosed with it as described above. You are probably at no higher cardiac risk from your blood pressure.
