Why do lots of users answer a question,when there is many,many answers there already,as in 'popular' category?

Many users (Especially TC's, since they draw more attention through their badges.) tend to answer popular questions.
Think out of the box! If a popular question has many people answering it, that means that the members that answered that popular question will navigate through it and try to vote down a member's answer if blatantly frivolous or unrelated right?
So in other words, it's like a coup d'etat.
