Website development & hosting tools: online or canned program...?

I want to put together a very simple website for a lawyer friend who has no web presence. The goal is to have something that shows up in a web search for his name. I'm done a little for a college class.

Should I get a program like Dreamweaver or should I use an online site like Wix, Yola, or Weebly. I did a little research and it appears that Wix uses Flash. Am I correct that iPhones do not handle Flash?

Any hep would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

Thanks for the first 3 answers. It's difficult to choose 'best' between the last 2 but I will within a few days. I do have some very rudimentary skills with html. Since he doesn't have any website at all, a static page with a single picture and just a pleasant choice of text, color, and arrangement would suffice. I'm doing it mainly as a refresher for me (I'm recently retired and have lots of time) and will not be charging $$ or perhaps a mere pittance...I'll keep checking for new answers...Btw, I found out that Google has a service for development and hosting, what do you think of that option?

If your friend wants some website that is just puked up and looks like it was made by a middle-schooler then use an online copy/paste site builder like Wix or Weebly.

But if you plan to stick with your friend and help them make that web presence matter over the course of some years and make sure it sticks with them then you are going to need to use some actual web design skills be it just notepad or Dreamweaver if you wish to go that expensive route.

Dreamweaver is a tool to help but it does not make websites for you. You still have to know what you are looking at and how to push Dreamweaver down the route you want. As one whom has a 4 year degree focused on web design I can tell you Dreamweaver is especially helpful but if you rely on it to much you end up with copy/paste websites like Wix and Weebly garbage.

Hello Firstly , I guess online program is better idea because If you use canned program then there is some disadvantage. For eg . If you have a program which has been written to solve a particular problem, is available to users of a computer system, and is usually fixed in form and capable of little or no modification.

Secondly, If you could hand-code it from scratch (or have someone else do it), use a website editor like Dreamweaver otherwise online site is option for you.

And last but not the list , you are completely right iPhone does not handle Flash though Adobe announced its own plans to support Flash on the iPhone when the iPhone SDK was released, but was forced to repeal their own comments when they discovered the SDK did not provide enough access to the iPhone OS "innards" to provide such support.

    Hope these will help you.

There are free hosts out there, but I would recommend using Go Daddy since it is only about 50 bucks for a year and they are first class. The big money is in getting someone to build your website, but you should be able to build it yourself. If you want to know how, just email me.
