Is it normal for DHL global mail to be so slow?

I ordered something from my football clubs website and i chose the standard delivery option of 3-10 days. As of today it's been 13 working days and still no delivery! When my order was dispatched on the 21.10.13, the club emailed me confirming that it was on its way but stated i should allow 17 working days before emailing them for problems. I've never ordered from global mail service of dhl, i've always chosen express but it was proving to be too expensive so i chose the cheaper option but now i am regretting it! What should i do? There is no way to track the order either.

Update:

Is saturday counted as a working day? If so it's been 15 days!

Yes indeed, they are awful. Took over 3 weeks for a package to get from New Jersey to MA. The tracking numbers dont usually work either. I refuse to order from any company if they use DHL.

How about another package which sat in a DHL depot 61 miles from our town for 2 weeks, I could have driven there and gotten it. I emailed them to send it to Singapore then I would hire a drone to bring it here, guess they got the humor, and I got the package shortly after that, and then 2 weeks later, I got a duplicate package? DHL is the epitome of ineptitude.

DHL is just SLOW! Companies use them because they offer CHEAP shipping rates. Unfortunately the consumers have to deal with the repercussions of this.As far as tracking ...that's a joke. Even if you have a tracking number, the tracking status is seldom if ever updated.I've waited weeks for orders that should have taken days. I've made it a policy to find out who the shippers are before ordering anything.I'll pay for better shipping if offered or buy elsewhere. I will not buy from anyone who uses DHL to ship.It isn't worth the aggravation !!!

I ordered a book from Toledo, Oh, and I live in the Detroit Metro Area. If it was sent USPS, it probably would have been on a truck on its normal run from Hebron, KY, (Cincinnati, OH) a regional USPS center, to the Allen Park, Mi, a USPS distribution center for our area where it would have stopped in Toledo, OH, to drop off mail that and pick this mail up due to the direction of travel and the fact we are on the same route. This would have been a two day trip at most. With DHL, the package was sent to Melrose Park (Chicago), apparently their distribution center, then sent to Hebron, KY, a USPS regional center they must have a contract with, so USPS can deliver it to the Detroit Metro area. Using DSL, it takes 8-10 days to go from Toledo to Toledo on an 800 mile circular trip and a one hour, 60 mile trip to get to Allen Park for distribution and delivery the next day thru the West Bloomfield PO. This looks ridiculous in our specific situation. Also, there is marginal tracking information while DHL has the package which ends and I am in the dark after USPS gets it.

This thread I see is from 2013. My how some things never improve. Every purchase I have made involving DHL Global ( there have been several) have been terrible to say the least. I currently have one that has been sitting in Georgia for 6 days and counting (153 miles away). It came from Kentucky! Now they will (send it) to USPS for final delivery. 2016 and still in disbelief.

No, DHL IS SLOW. Unfortunately, your deliveries from China are unusual. I've had slow deliveries from DHL in 3 countries now, US, New Zealand, Germany.

DHL is NOT SLOW. your seller is telling you that your items have been shipped when they haven't. We have been ordering from China every week for over 3 years. DHL never takes over 2 days to get the package to our doorsteps. It's unbelievable.
