Help me find the right door bolt.?
I'm looking for a door bolt for senior citizens who often forget to bolt insde (not door lock or night latch).
The door lock already installed has knobs on both the sides, if simply closed the door can be opened by turning the knobs from both sides. If it is locked using keys, the dead bolt is locked and needs key to be opened from both sides.
This is what I'm looking for:
A bolt or latch with knob or lever inside alone that if the door is push closed from the inside the bolt must get latched. Similarly when that knob is pulled from inside it must release. There should be no knobs outside. So when door is closed from outside the latch doesn't get engaged ( installed using screws alone WITHOUT cutting and placing lock inside is sufficient cos electronic doors lock automatically if alarm is armed moreover I'll be installing myself)

Spring Latch (or Slip Bolt) locks provide minimal security, but are the least expensive and easiest to install. They work by locking the doorknob of the door, thus preventing the release of a spring-loaded latch that fits into the door frame. However, this type of lock is vulnerable in several ways. Devices other than the properly fitting key can be used to release the pressure keeping the spring in place, allowing for release of the bolt for burglars. More forceful intruders can smash the doorknob and lock from the door with a hammer or wrench. A protective metal plate to reinforce the wood around the doorknob is recommended to prevent this.

I was going to suggest what's called a "warehouse lock" but
"So when door is closed from outside the latch doesn't get engaged ".
I don't know if that's possible.
Visit a locksmith and ask some questions.
