A week really isn't long enough to explore the whole country.

If you're flying into HCMC I'd suggest the following:

    - A couple of days in the city

    - A day trip down to the Mekong Delta

    - A couple of days at the beach resort of Mui Ne (3 hour bus/train ride from HCMC)

If you're flying into Hanoi I'd suggest the following:

    - A couple of days in the city

    - A 1 night stay in Ha Long Bay

    - Possibly a trip up to SaPa (but this is around 4-6 hours by bus from Hanoi)

    Hope this helps!

I spent 2 weeks in Vietnam and missed so many great places.

The best way for a weeks trip is to fly into Ho Chi Minh City and fly out of Hanoi (or the other way round)

You can then train or bus to various cities on the way. For example I did 2 nights in Hanoi, 3 nights (arrived late and left early so really only 2 full days there) in Da Nang/Hoi An and then went to Hanoi where you should be able to squeeze in a trip to Ha Long Bay.

I prefer Ho Chi Minh City over Hanoi but I think the more interesting sites around around Hanoi. So you could fly into Hanoi, do a trip to Sa Pa (in winter it will be cold), Ha Long Bay, maybe a little village, we went to Mai Chau. If you have time you can jet off to Da Nang or Hue for a over night trip. Then fly out of Hanoi.

Hmm.. For the culture you should visit the North of Vietnam, and the South and Center for the beautiful beach. If you are a gourmet and want to discover vietnam cuisine or street food, see some gourmet tours.

Listen you have to be more specific. Now if you said top sites in north Viet Nam. The I would say you have to go to halong bay or take a train from hanoi to the mountains and to some hiking. If you said central Viet Nam I personalely could spend a week Hue there is some much culture and history their (both modern and ancient).dont get me started with south Viet Nam.

Maybe you will have many experiences which be shared on your topic.

You can also watch some video clips about the countries on internet before you go. They could be very helpful. Then you can give your decision.

For example, I suggest some video clips about Vietnam. And welcome to my country.

    You can see:

If you like culture things, then Hanoi is the top place. If you like beaches and sunshine, Nha Trang is the best.
