Prizes for winners of hike?

I'm organising a gold DofE expedition (4 days, 3 nights) and each night, I plan on giving the winning team (of 5 or 6) a few prizes for their efforts. So far, I've been thinking marshmallows, hot chocolate and a bean bag each (to sit round the fire on)

What other prizes can I give them?

Thanks in advance :)

Like anyone reaching the summit of a 14,000 foot mountain, I do not consider there to be any losers. Everyone who joins a Duke of Edinburgh event is a winner. I do not understand why there is a "winning" team on a backpacking adventure.

If you want reward ideas for participants in an outdoor activity, then handy items may include:

Dry storage canister for kitchen matches, stuff sacks, carabiner, fire starter, pocket knife, hand warmer, liter bottle, Neoprene insulation liner for liter bottles, extra set of dry socks, packet of bandages, sunscreen, paracord rope, tissues, nut bar, tent stake, fish line, bacon bits, jerky, wie brie, emergency blanket for a tent pad, headlamp.

I don't know what the hikers bring with which to feed themselves but they probably already have packets of hot chocolate if they like that. Will they have something with which to roast the marshmallows over the fire?

Being an American I am ignorant of the conditions and rules.

I don't know what they are taught.

Bringing bean bags, you must have a vehicle, meaning you can bring food items the hikers won't, due to weight, it might melt or requires refrigeration. Think about supplying those desires.

How about an orange bandanna. In addition to being a signal device a bandanna is very multi-purpose. That would be for the last night.

How about bars of high quality chocolate? (70% or more Carob.)

A small can each of little sausages, smoked oysters or whatever you think they'd like?

    Good cheese?

Back in 1961 we participated in such an event.

I was awarded a 78 of "The Happy Wanderer" autographed by Frank Weir and a genuine pair of synthetic lederhosen.

The wife placed third and got a really nice photo of Julie Andrews from "The Sound of Music".
