Apparently an eavestrough is what most people call a rain gutter. Your house still has a fascia, which is the board the rain gutter would be attached to. Even if you have one of those strange houses without a fascia, you still have the ends of the rafters sticking out. Either way, you drive a nail in a short distance and hang the lights on the nail.

There are lots and lots of different clips to hold Christmas lights. No doubt one or more will meet your needs. Perhaps a shingle clip?
