The GOP likes to pretend inflation doesn't exist. Every year that the minimum wage doesn't increase, its real buying power automatically decreases.

    Lord, I hope not.

You do realize that 'corporations' and businesses are not required to hire folks, don't you? So, you want a pay check at a fair wage or a welfare check? The choice really is yours...and that of your 76% of Americans.

Want proof? Back in 2009, Obama and the Democrats raised the minimum wage to about $7.25. Teenage burger flippers are not worth that. And so, they are suffering about 40% unemployment. Imagine how much money could be flowing into the economy if these snot nosed, wet behind the ears, first time job seekers actually had a job.

I'm a conservative Republican and while I think it is best economically to let the market set the minimum wage (For example I just checked the disney website here in Orlando and their pay starts at $8.45/hr, which is more than a dollar above the $7.25 min wage), I'm not against raising it somewhat...you just want to be careful you don't raise it too much and hurt employment....$8.00 seems like a good middle ground.

You do understand that increasing minimum wage doesn't actually have an actual benefit.. right?

Prices increase at the same rate minimum wage does, and all you accomplish is lowering the purchasing power of people who used to make above minimum wage.

And they should raise it. And stop calling people lazy leeches and moochers. A wage increase increases the chance of more tax dollars and to better fen for themselves without needing so much help, It makes sense to many, But ludicrous to those that would rather see people struggling to make ends meet. An honest days pay for an honest days work I say. The current is enslavement on a slightly more humane scale.

1050 people polled do not represent America. Raise the minimum wage, I don't really care but be prepared to pay more for your Big Mac.

How about this, the minimum wage gets increased, but we cut back your hours? Would that suffice as a compromise?

Which 'GOP Congress' would that be, honey; oh, right, the one controlled by Ho-Hum Harry.

The GOP congress is the most useless group in this nation's history. They wouldn't do something positive that helps the poor if their life depended on it. They're in bed with the main businesses that exploit workers and have zero interest in helping the country. Forget about them passing anything.
