what is it like to lose a parent?

I've never seen my parents in bad health I'm 22 but a few days ago my dad was put in the hospital he has been diagnosed with bronchiestasis which is permanent.

This is the first scare I've had from my parents being hospitalized other then neesing surgery.

This has brought reality to the situation and I realize one day I will lose them and that really bothers me because my parents are very kind hearted people and they fear death so it'd be heart breaking to see one pass.

My dad died when I was 10. It was devastating. I grieved for about a year. Then, my personality began to change. I became a very black and white type of person. I had decided that there was no benefit in crying over something that is unfixable. I miss him every day, but I make sure that I don't go borderline psychotic with depression.

Don't ever try to think about it. It is one of the most devastating thing in life. So as long as your parents live, always show them that you really love them and care for them.

I'm sorry to hear that your father's health is declining. I hope you feel better soon. Stay strong!
