Anyone experience high oil consumption with your 2013 Outback?
I purchased my 2013 Outback new with 80km. A rude awakening after 7000km, the low oil light illuminated. With further observation, I noticed white/blue smoke every morning on first start. Also, the dip stick drops about 1/4in every 2000km.
I have never experienced such oil consumption with any other vehicle I have owned. Never had the need to check the oil level between changing. I am ready to get rid of it and never look at another Subaru ever again.
Did I get a lemon or does this happen with all Subaurs? I would appreciate any comments, recommendations, suggestions or remedies. What would you do to solve this? Thanks.

Take it back to the dealer. There is obviously something wrong and you are obviously still within the warranty period. The dealership should have been the first port of call when you first thought something was amiss.
Subaru engines are among the most reliable engines out there. However, the 2013 model boasted new engines in the line-up, so it's possible there's been a 'mistake' somewhere.
Most of the car reviewers place the Outback above its competitors.

80km on a vehicle sold as brand new is quite a bit of mileage. That car could have been abused as a demonstration car, who knows how many test drives it's been through. If it was driven hard without a proper break-in period then it's no surprise the engine is having issues.
That blue smoke is a clear indication the engine is in need of an overhaul. Blue smoke occurs when excessive oil has leaked into the cylinders. 7000km with a low oil light already on is far from normal, also once that light comes on the engine is pretty much done despite it being a "warning" light. Losing 1/4in on the dipstick only a mere 2000km is absurd.
It's under warranty, take it back to the dealer. Odds are they are going to give you a loaner and tear the engine down to replace whatever failed. And no that's not something that happens to all Subarus.

Same problem, had my oil light come on , after driving 3000mi on two occasions. Both
times it took about 1 qt to bring her back up. Never had this happen in 50 years. Never
happened before on any of my other 7 Subarus. Don't know why the dealer puts a 5000mi
sticker in the window. The dealer told me it may take longer to brake in because of the
light wt. oil.????18,000.

This is a new car and if you have concerns, take it back to the dealer and speak to them. My step-daughter has one of these (her 2nd Scooby) and they are great cars. I have yet to hear a bad report.
The oil consumption you describe is high......but not ridiculous, it may well improve with running.
I would stick with it, if everything else on the vehicle is good, speak to the dealer and give it a little time.
Total 'Tripe' from Bearface as usual.

Hi dreamer
you are are you not new to motoring a subaru is not the most expensive 4x4 car designed for a price. yes it will drink oil that is about right for a cheaper quality car designed for off road use a farmer. would own one to stick all sorts in it.
bales of hay and straw. drive it across a ploughed field and up a steep hill and down again.
take feed out to his sheep and cows on a snow covered hillside in the welsh mountains.
so it drinks oil. most fords do that is what they are know for consumption of oil.
yes i bet somewhere this is no longer a true subaru.
then we come to the consumption issue it is a 4x4 so it will use more fuel.
oh yes blue and white smoke is normal with most cars as condensation forms in exhaust pipes over night in all car exhaust systems hence why they rust away and need to be replaced.
