Yeah JFK could not be a democrat today.

Todays democrat party is the "ask what your government can do for you" party.

This is how they buy democrat votes.

Because we all know everyone living on government money votes for democrats.

The biggest determining factor in politics is,,,,,,,, "Can the democrat party buy your vote?"

High paying government union jobs, forever unemployment, forcing the rich to pay the taxes of the poor, federal funding for abortions, free healthcare, welfare and food stamps, SS, lifetime disability, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. all democrat vote buying programs.

Because we all know everyone living on government money votes for democrats, and big labor union gives big money to the democrat party, to buy democrat politicians.

This statement is very easy to prove, just ask any one living on government money who they vote for,,,,,,any public teacher, any mailman, any DMV worker, any firefighter, (now cops and military are 50/50, it's a gun thing), but ask any state college student getting Pell Grants or government student loans, most union members, any illegal alien, or your retired parents who are struggling on SS and Medicare, or the poor living on welfare, anyone at the SS field office, or in the unemployment line. Myself I get SS but I do not need it, so I donate my SS to the NRA, and vote for Republicans, but my statement did say "Living on Government Money"..........

Because democrats have a hard time buying the non-union private sector white working class vote.

JFK has carefully been crafted into a Romantic Figurehood who is slowly becoming Saint John of Hyannis Port. There have been others afforded this artificial treatment, and I am sure that Obama will gradually be Beautified when he leaves office.

However, JFK was not an effective president. LBJ is so closely associated with Vietnam that his legislative accomplishments have often been overlooked.

You may or may not like Johnson, but he is the one who actually had passed the issues JFK is wrongly given all of the credit for. Civil RIghts Act, Voting Rights Act, Medicare, Head Start, Truth in Lending, Federal intrusion into education etc.

As a Conservative, I think he made too many promises for Federal Dollars, Inflation is now starting to perform a market correction on these projects that is likely to be far more brutal than the modest proposals mainstream Republicans have offered for years. If you doubt this consider the following: What has happened to the price of Food over the last 4 years? Has the inflation adjustment in either Medicare, Food Stamps, or Aid to Families with Dependent Children kept up with this?

Nothing whether it be a person, a company (how many of the original Dow Jones are still around?), or even a country can permanently stimie market forces. Eventually, in all cases, expenditures must come into line with income with no long run exceptions.

Yes and doing something for your country involves the middle class not just the 1%. Although he came from a wealthy family he fought for the common man as did his brothers. Great quote from Ted...

"240 billion dollars in tax breaks for corporations. 36 billion dollars in tax breaks for small businesses. Increase in productivity -- 42 percent over the last 10 years," yelled Kennedy emotionally. "But do you think there's any increase in the minimum wage? No. At 12 after five today, on Thursday, I speak for all of our Democrats and say we're prepared to vote now. Now!"

"Do you have such disdain for hard-working Americans that you want to pile all your amendments on this? Why don't you just hold your amendments until other pieces of legislation? Why this volume of amendments on just the issue to try and raise the minimum wage? What is it about it that drives you Republicans crazy? What is it? Something. Something! What is the price that the workers have to pay to get an increase? What is it about working men and women that you find so offensive?"

Cheap partisan attack, given the greedy nature of all Republican politics today.

Which party stands for improving other's lives? The Democrats.

Which stands for a particular group of corporate interests, such as the Oil lobby? Republicans.

The Daft notion that JFK would be a Tea party member is a product of a mythology of conspiracies which rotates around JFK as a martyred messiah.

The welfare state of LBJ and Democrats discovering they could buy votes with tax revenues. Seized from others. Then they changed the currency to a fiat one. Based on the tax revenues generated by the working class. Things took off from there. Because now they could endlessly and massively borrow to buy those votes. "Helping" good citizens decide they could exchange their Liberties and Rights for licentiousness and small "rights" Becoming angry, sullen and ever more jaded dependents.

Franklin and others had it right. Once people discover they can vote for themselves other people's property and money? A republic is basically OVER-DONE-KAPUT. Authoritarianism is normally the inescapable next government.

JFK was a great believer in public service which is what his words referenced. Cons disparage public service today.

    JFK also said:

"And the only basic issue in the 1960 campaign is whether our government will FALL IN A CONSERVATIVE RUT AND DIE THERE, [emphasis added] or whether we will move ahead in the liberal spirit of daring, of breaking new ground, of doing in our generation what Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and Adlai Stevenson did in their time of influence and responsibility."

Those words are still true today.

Yes and he voted against the Civil Rights Act the first time the republicans tried to pass it in 1957.. The democrats were still heavily influenced by the KKK at that point of time.

The Democrats made a hard left turn after Kennedy's death, mostly due to the counterculture and Vietnam war.

The great Democrat paradox is that they all loudly proclaim worship of JFK AND all claim that all of his polices are pure right-wing evil.
