Why are people obsessed with being thin?

What's wrong with just being healthy?

The teen obsession with "thigh gap" is disgusting. Most girls with thigh gap look like they have an eating disorder. Its gross.

Healthy looking women have meat on their bones.

Ugh I ask myself this question all the time. When I was 14 - 16 I would starve myself and work out constantly wanting the thigh gap. I've always had thick thighs and a thin stomach which is what everyone always wanted, but i absolutely hated my body. I was so obsessed with losing weight that I would go to drastic measures to see the number on the scale go down. Luckily I got out of that lifestyle completely and am very happy with having thick thighs. I embrace it as I have found guys definitely prefer it over extremely thin legs. I must say though that some girls just have it naturally and can't do anything about it even if they tried.

I used to have a minor eating disorder, lost 15 points in the process. I could tell you that the media and society creates the image that being fat is just gross. Every time I see a fat person, I become grossed out and worry that I myself am fat. However, I had other reasons to be depressed, which is why I resorted to more serious measures. Basically, the basis to eating disorders is depression with a mixture of hating your own body. (Yes, I'm a boy, this happens to males as well).

Ha, I saw your comment on the other post.. Women have a desire to be thin, because it's something that has been drilled into our brains since birth with all of the advertising and social pressure.

That being said, it's perfectly fine to want to be healthy! I weigh a good 160 currently and am proud to say that my thighs stand alone! It's uncomfortable to have thighs that rub together..

Some people can't help it. They have eating disorders like me. They get bullied. My name at school was miss piggie so I developed anorexia nervosa. So yea that's what some people are obsessed with being thin
