Why did Richard Dawkins try to tell every one how to think at the 2012 Global Atheist convention?
"As the big name at the Global Atheist Convention 2012, Richard Dawkins barely said a word about biology. He mostly wanted to talk about atheism and how we should think.
On Q and A he wanted us to know there are some questions that are wrong to ask. At one point his words had a sting.
Dawkins said:
“Why?” is a silly question. You can ask, What are the factors that led to something coming into existence? That’s a sensible question. But “What is the purpose universe?” is a silly question. It has no meaning."

Spamming questions is against the guidelines j@ck@$$. Why don't you bother reading the answers you got the first time?
" You are apparently too wrapped up in your own delusions to understand the difference between making a speech and "telling people what to think". You see, when a pastor reads from the bible and says if you don't follow the "gospel truth" you go to hell, that's telling people what to think. When a person makes a statement that the question of the purpose of the universe is meaningless, they are simply expressing their opinion on a subject. Not once in your retardedly biased link was there a single example of Dawkins telling people how to think, or what to think.
The article takes the opinions of one man and uses logical fallacies, as you christians so often love to do, to give it an importance that just is NOT there...
Source(s):
I don't read Dawkins, don't care about him, don't care about some convention, and am getting quite sick and tired of you people avoiding the real issue, your treasonous attacks on the constitution of the United States and your various and sundry crimes against humanity.."

Why would you think a speaker at an atheist convention should talk about biology instead of atheism?
He's right anyway, "Why" is almost always a stupid question when applied to the universe or our existence. Any question concerned with 'purpose' cannot be answered (unless there is a creator, and if there is it can ONLY be answered DIRECTLY by that creator - so unless it wants to come and answer...).

"What is the purpose of the universe" is the only meaningful question. Dawkins mires his followers in shallow thinking so that he can revel in the power derived from being idolized. He's basically saying, don't look too deeply or you may doubt the materialist/naturalistic position I am training you to venerate.
Without an answer to "why" all we have is emptiness, meaninglessness, and ultimately, absurdity. Life in a world devoid of a "why" is better off never having been.

And why should he say anything about Biology at an Atheist's convention?
You say that like he was being nefarious or something.
Dr. Dawkins is perfectly entitled to state his position, and I'm sure that he would have ample evidence to back up his assertions. He's not just some guy in a diner, spouting his opinions on the "Gubmint."

2012 Global Atheist convention was over a year ago. Why would anyone want to argue about what was said then?

As an exceptionally brilliant atheist, I find his insights breathtaking and irrefutable.
Some times we don't have time to think for ourselves.
It is then that we rely upon Richard to tell us how to behave and how to think. What is the purpose universe is something you misheard. He actually said What is the porpoise? Universe?
This tied into biology because the porpoise universe is our world , too.

There you go again assuming that Dawkins is some kind of authority figure.
There you go again being obsessed with him. Are you afraid he might be right?
Why don't you look up Charles Bradlaugh, John Stuart Mill or Bertrand Russell?

Science will NEVER be able to answer the WHY - or WHAT IS THE PURPOSE - question. I'm surprised that he said that because anyone at an atheist convention would already know that.

The question "why?" implies purpose and has no meaning when it comes to natural phenomena. There is no intent in the rock or the Earth when you drop a rock to demonstrate gravity. Their interaction is a consequence of their properties.

Asking why is a silly question. It is a hallmark of an intellectually bankrupt individual.
