Would America work better if?
3/4 of your taxes went to state and 1/4 of your taxes went to federal.
What if gay-marriage, health reform, gun rights, and border control was handled at the state level?
Would there be 50 variations of politics one could choose from?
Maybe I need to clarify; never mentioned "income". The wording is Tax. It doesn't have to be 1/4 to fed or 3/4 to state; just that state would handle issues so it would take more of the tax than federal.

Brilliant idea...it'll never pass though. I read once that over 70% of DC Politicians have their college degrees in Tax Law. In a moment of clarity and sobriety both Dems and Repubs would admit a flat or fair tax could cure many of Americas financial ills...but it makes all the Politician's Diplomas not worth the paper it's printed on.
You believe in limited federal and strong state and local. Guess what you're a conservative. That's the pure foundation of conservative philosophy. Don't worry outside of trendy NY and Seattle Coffee Shops everyone else thinks as you do... intelligently. Good job America loves ya!

This would mean that I would have no income for me.
Why should I work?
This was tried in the Jamestown colony.
It was decided if you wanted to share in the food and community, YOU had to help contribute to the survival of all.
This is why Socialism and Communism have never worked.
Unless, you kill 10's of millions of your people to ease the demands of the producers.

America would be a better place if less of my tax money were spent locking up non-violent offenders, invading and occupying foreign countries, subsidies for Big Oil, and inflated prices for Medicare prescription drugs.
