Christians: Does sin hold to our souls or just our bodies?

Those who reject the Trinity need not answer.

Update:

Well, it was not because of God that sin entered the world but man. God also revealed a plan for salvation. Gen 3:15

Joshua, scripturally, a person is not a divided being. I know we're taught 'body, soul, spirit' but scripture doesn't actually teach that. If you can find any sort of convincing evidence for it in the bible I'll e-mail you a quarter. ;)

Sin enslaves us when we do it habitually. The only way to be free from it is to consider ourselves dead to this world (that is, the kingdom of the world as opposed to the kingdom of God) and alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. For a better idea of how Jesus frees us from sin, read Romans -- slowly.

Can we think specific for a moment on this?

Some Christians are addicted to things whether it is gambling, pornography,

road rage, overeating, intense anger outbursts, drugs of various kinds,

    even homosexuality.

    It's a fact, isn't it.

If the soul is totally against it, then it's more like Jesus said

'the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak'....but the soul will be hurt,

    contaminated.

If all through a person is some addiction, even say to watching sports

all the time, then the soul will be affected by this.

So first, I must see how far I've 'sold out'....is it an addiction of the flesh,

or is it more than that...am I seriously committed to this?

If I can get my soul away from the idea of this sin, let's say porn for example,

then I think the physical flesh will have less sway.

Thus sin holds first the flesh but then expands. Sin always expands, and

that's one reason God will get rid of all of it.

    Sin reigns in the heart.

    Mark 7

1 Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes came together to Him, having come from Jerusalem. 2 Now when[a] they saw some of His disciples eat bread with defiled, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault. 3 For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands in a special way, holding the tradition of the elders. 4 When they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other things which they have received and hold, like the washing of cups, pitchers, copper vessels, and couches.

5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”

6 He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:

‘This people honors Me with their lips,

But their heart is far from Me.

7 And in vain they worship Me,

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men

Quote the verse in Genesis where it says sin corrupted everything. Last time I checked, god was the one who did the punishing, the one who made thorns grow, the one who kicked them out.

Zoroastrianism saw sin as a physical disease, caused by Angra Mainyu that prevented you from getting into heaven. They came up with the idea, and it is not even in your Bible.

You do not follow the Bible, you follow Christians...

Sin is of the flesh. It refers to human imperfection and separates us from perfect God

Both. Sin effects the soul and manifests itself in the body by sickness of the mind and/or through diseases such as STDs or compulsive behaviors.

Neither. Sin was invented by 4th century clerics attempting successfully to instill guilt and fear into an ignorant, frightened, desperate citizenry. Brilliant idea, wonderful strategy, it still works on people today. People like yourself.
