Tips for dungeons and dragons first time dms?

I've played d&d for a while, and some of my friends want me to dm a game for them. I was just wondering if you guys have any tips, since its my first tip. And I havent played the game like a crazy lot or anything. But I also don't want to spend lots of money on this.

Consider getting a premade module for the appropriate level of the party. Even if you don't run it as is, it should give you an idea of how to put together a balanced challenge for the group as well as ideas about how to mix combat and non-combat encounters.

I would get a pre-made adventure. My dm's have always complained about how long it takes to make something up, and how using a pre-made, even if they don't stay exactly on script, makes things much easier.
