Spiritually speaking, is anger the shortest path to a mistake?

Update:

@Robin

Ignorance does lead to mistakes, but its not always easy to judge what is ignorance and what is truth. We are all ignorant in some ways, and know the truth in other ways.

    Anger is simply an emotion and there is nothing wrong with emotion. But...when one allows emotion to over-ride fact, truth, reason, wisdom, etc. the mistake has already been made.

    delta,

    Anger is ignorance of identity as the source and shortest path to all mistakes. Once the false-ego-idea has been dropped anger is impossible. The realization of being one with total existence brings balance to the emotional and mental bodies. With acceptance of going with the flow in life is the pinnacle of freedom and happiness.

    Take a look/see.

    Lack of education and refusing to question things is the shortest path to a spiritual mistake.

    Impulsive and reactionary behavior is the shortest path to a mistake. You know the old saying, "look before you leap?" Well, there ya go.

    Nah, not allowing yourself time to think is the shortest path to a mistake. Feelings are normal and come and go. Feel your feelings, don't ignore them or try to force them to go away. However, do not have knee-jerk reactions to your feelings. Use mindfulness.

    No. I'd say that ignorance is "the shortest path to a mistake".

    Anger distracts us. It also flusters us.

    It has been my observation, for what ever it is worth, that the angrier a person becomes, the more mistakes they will make. Which snowballs into more anger.

    Anger seems to me to be counterproductive.

    YES.

    Throughout history, the world has been full of angry Christians who tortured, killed, expelled, invaded and dominated non believers and those of other faiths.

    Yes, Christianity should be ashamed of it's anger and violence throughout the ages.
