when you post a question check the little box to check to receive notifications. You should also enable your email.Go to the home page
click the wrench right side of the window. Scroll to: Answers Community. Check as below: Can contact me via email(Your address will remain private)
Can contact me via Yahoo Messenger
(This will make your messenger and Yahoo Id visible to Answers community)
Click save.

Go to Answers Home. To the right of your avatar will be a wrench. Change your setting in there.

when asking a question, it asks whether or not you want to be emailed when it gets an answer
