Actually most people have a more positive view of themselves than others have of them. A person becomes comfortable with their own face/body as they see it in the mirror. Even people with completely disfigured faces have reported that they are able to "feel" attractive and positive about their look, at least until someone comes and makes fun of them in the street. It is essential for a person's survival that they are "ok" with their look, or they will not be able to face others in a society. It's the person's natural instinct to accept himself or herself as they are.
