1996 Ford Ranger Heater Blower Question.?
The blower stopped working on all settings. I didn't experience the resistor symptom of working on some settings and not others it was either all or nothing. I did experience hitting bumps in road and suddenly working again but now nothing works. Any ideas as to which component is likely bad?
Thanks 8-)

If it's anything like my 1995 Escort, there is a breaker just for the blower.

If I am not mistaken, the power is supplied from the ignition switch through a 30amp fuse to the blower motor. The blower motor will be the easiest place to check for power. Using a test light, back probe the wire to the blower motor with ignition on. If you have power there, jumper a ground to the other (black) side of the motor. If the motor starts, the problem is in the ground side. The ground side is comprised of the blower resistor, the switch and the ground point from the switch. Like G-man said, poor connections (signs of heat or arcing) are what you are looking for.

Your description of it sometimes coming on/off while on rough roads may be the clue. That sounds very much like a bad electrical connection in the circuit. Start with the switch and trace the wiring to all the way to the blower. Don't forget the relay is there is one. You may find a break or a bare spot in the wiring but if not, remove and clean all the connections. If that fails it may be the switch itself or even a short in the blower motor.
