How many of you would have Phanuef, Bieksa or Spezza on Team Canada?

I don't think taking Spezza is worthy of being institutionalized. He has excellent career numbers. I've seen you say this kind of thing about Spezza before and I'd love to hear more thoughts on why he's such a terrible choice.

As for the other two, I tend to agree. At the defense position I have the following ahead of Phaneuf and Bieksa: Subban, Keith, Doughty, Weber, Seabrook, Pietrangelo, Letang, and Green. There might be more but I think eight will suffice for now considering seven at most will see regular time. And I rather like Bieksa and Phaneuf, but this is team Canada we're talking about.

I love Phaneuf but barring a slew of injuries he will not be on the plane to Sochi (especially since Babcock is going to play RD and LD in their position). "Maybe" Phaneuf as the 7th/8th/9th defenceman as a PP specialist if Subban, Green, Doughty and Weber aren't on the plane.

Spezza can put the puck in the net. If you had injuries and Stamkos isn't on the plane I "might" think about Spezza as the 13th forward. Maybe. Maybe.

Phaneuf/Bieksa as top-six defencemen? NO NO NO NO.

If your source is Steve "I eat paste" Simmons or the mumbling idiot on the radio with sunglasses...then that's your problem.

I think that Phaneuf and Spezza are definitely worth putting on the team but it won't matter because USA is going to take gold anyways...so...yeah
