Can a 16 year old minor good to jail for slapping a guy?

My neighbors daughter slap a guy who was on their property at there back door all in her face screaming and yelling her she got tired of it and slapped him now she has to go to court for second degree battery which is a little extreme I think for just slapping some one he wasn't injured well I'm sure his feelings were but second degree battery is a felony crime in Arkansas so her mother is worried I was just trying to find some answers to re assure her that the most that can happen is probation and a fine if that since he was in their yard in the back door screaming at her and she felt threaten surely that's some kind of grounds for self defense since he was trespassing and he was an adult harassing a minor so whats the most that could happen to her when she goes to court
