I thank God for what I have. I ask Him to be patient with me, because I'm still learning. I ask Him to watch over my kids and help them be wise in the choices they make. I ask Him to watch over my house and my pets while I am at work. I ask for the Holy Spirit, or the Comforter, to be present in my home.

I ask Him to help me make good decisions, and help me be patient and kind to people, even people who make me want to knock their blocks off.

I ask Him to watch over my husband, because my husband usually doesn't watch over himself (the candy bar and McDonald's wrappers on the floor of his truck prove that.)

I ask Him to help me with some really perplexing and hurtful situations in life--like when one of my dogs ran off and was gone for a week, or when someone at work was being a total witch-with-a-b and telling lies to the supervisor about me, or when I had to move and could find nowhere else to go. I ask Him how I can fix some problems I have with some people in my life.

I ask Him to comfort me when I am heartbroken. I ask Him to help me understand when it seems that life is cruel and unfair. I ask Him to help me forgive.

I ask Him to lead me to opportunities. I ask Him to help me provide for myself.

Basically Mormons pray just like anyone else--only we are encouraged to recognize our Father in Heaven for who He really is: a Father who loves us, and who we can talk to.

You address the Father and thank Him for what you have received and ask Him for what you need and then close in the name of Jesus Christ.

When you describe to Him what you are thankful for and what you need, be specific. You are talking to a real being who really does care about you and your needs.

Two nights ago I prayed for my wife to feel better, that an abdominal pain would go away. Yesterday she told me that it had gone away, that she felt fine again.

When I lose something valuable, I pray to be able to find it, either help me to remember what I did with it or give me insight to where it might be. Usually I am able to find it thereafter.

There are many reasons to pray and the more specific we can be, the more likely we are to get an answer from Heavenly Father, either by way of a third party coming to our aid or a thought being placed in our minds as an answer or whatever else may be appropriate.

Pray in faith, nothing doubting as counseled by James in the New Testament. It works. I have tried it and have been answered.

most of my life i have opened with the lords prayer

    luke 11 matthew 6.

you should find my testimonial on how i came to get my answer of prayer miraculously.

anyway, i have been taught in the LDS church to address Heavenly, and close in the name of jesus christ.

what i include in my prayers is the need to understand what is happening to me spiritually. so i do patiently wait for all experiences of faith and spiritual things. i have asked for to know if i would die today what would happen. its not always nice places i see in my dreams. i literally did see two men with skin standing by a line of slaves either going to labor or going into hell. fore example. i saw a rage demon last summer in one dream and a liar demon as well.

i always pray for forgiveness and confess the sins of my day. and i pray often for protection from evil as well as for jobs and being a helpful witness of jesus. only a couple times in my life have i prayed for 2 hours or more in anger. but what followed wasn't just a simple OK, i began knowing how God does things which no one sees, which people take for granted and without thanks.

one time i fasted and prayed specifically to know which church is true, or which one to join, and i was visited by an invisible spirit of revelation. another time i prayed to be baptized in the spirit and lo, i beheld a spirit of light like unto an angel, who i thought was the Lord himself and thought when he left that i had missed the rapture.
