What is a good thesis statement about beauty and worth?
-this is for my exam essay about a book that I'm reading. The theme of the book is a woman's beauty is more valuable than her hardwork because soceity as a whole appreciates beauty rather than effort. The black woman of the hill (setting) are less valuable than the white woman. I just don't know how to write a thesis about this.
- the point of the book is to show how a woman worth depends on her looks and if she doesnt fit that certain "critiria" then she is looked down on

We've all heard the expression. "Clothes Make the Man," and, "Beauty is Skin Deep," as well as, "It's not What you Know, but Who you Know that Counts." We are blown away by the beauty of the Michelangelo’s sculpture, David, at first sight. We are impressed by the name of the artist. His skill is taken for granted. We don’t think of the work, even though -- paradoxically enough -- we call it an “oeuvre”, which is “work” in French. Here is a case where we put high value on appearance. The same may be said of top models. We make Blonde-like jokes about their work and mental capacity, but most are millionaires from endorsements and spin-off products.
Taking all as a premise, it can be seen that a street smart, well-dressed, flawlessly made up beautiful woman with connections through family or school is at least or more likely to get by very well in life than a homely Ph.D. starting out as an intern even in a Fortune-500 Corporation. A woman’s beauty may be more valuable than hard work, but it should be considered that to turn that value into cold, hard cash, position and power, will also require a higher measure of intelligence and training to succeed outside of the equivalent of a Red Light District. We should also consider, for example, the fully wrapped beauties of Iraq, Afghanistan and Muslim India. It looks like in those situations, society will have to await the day when a good figure can be printed or painted on the outside of a burka.

First, decide if you agree or disagree with the author. From there, you should be able to use your opinions to come up with a rough draft. This site should also help you piece together your thesis statement:

Beauty determines worth.
Worth determines beauty.
Pick your opinion (or whichever one is more easy to support) and go from there.
