Many factors to this....especially where the game is played. They are 2 very evenly matched teams.

You said they play today, and I will assume a neutral field. I will go with SF 21-20 because of the Steve Smith injury. However, the Panthers should beat Atlanta this week, secure the playoff bye, and Steve Smith should be back by the time the Panthers play next.

Well that depends on how you define better. I think the Niners have more balance withint offense, defense and special teams. The Panthers probably have the slightly superior defense though which is huge in the playoffs. But look at the Niner's weapons on offense Gore, Crab, Davis, Manningham, Kaepernick. They are an explosive group of guys.

49ers would win.
