Ho Ho Ho! About how many Calories does Santa consume on Christmas eve?

Assume a world population of roughly 7.1 billion, and that everyone puts cookies and milk out for him. (DUH! Who doesn't?) Introduce whatever other assumptions you want.

Let's say 1 cookie from each person, 100 calories per cookie, so that's 710 billion calories.

    That's almost 300 quintillion joules.

So go look at a package of cookies (ok so a lot are homemade, but we don't have that data). See how much is in 1 serving. I wouldn't think that he'd eat any more than 1 serving at each house. Do the same for the milk. Usually Santa doesn't drink all the milk, so say 1/2 a serving. So make an assumption for how many people live in 1 household. Maybe 3 per household. You could maybe find data to support a different number. Then you can find the number of households, then multiply that by the calories that you found.

If you ask me, though. Maybe Santa's stomach is more like Mr.Fusion (from the movie 'Back to the Future'), and the energy produced goes into levitating the sleigh. Just a thought. So then it's not calories, but some sort of matter-energy conversion. He does need to fly 'very fast', you know.

Zero. Santa is bulimic so he hurls over the side of his sleigh every half hour or so.
