How would I transfer the display of one computer to another via HDMI?

I'm fixing a friend's computer, but a rather irritating complication came up. His laptop's screen is broken, so what he usually does is hook up his laptop to a computer monitor via VGA. Unfortunately, the only capability I have is HDMI, as I am fixing a laptop with a laptop. I was wondering how I would sort of transfer the contents of the monitor on his laptop to mine? I want to make it so his display pops up on my screen with HDMI.

Is this possible? When I Google 'hdmi computer to computer' or any variant, it gives me results for connecting to a TV or PC tower monitor, which I already know how to do.

Please and thank you :)

You can't. Laptop HDMI ports are only HDMI out, not in.

Edit: Just wanted to also say that the answer that said use logmein is a great work around your issue.

tell him to get logmein, and you can just fix it on whatever screen you want.
